When do you / did you turn 30?
20 January 2007

Do you have any birthday celebration plans (or did you)?
No, birthdays are never a big thing to me (partly due to being so close to Christmas), but everyone else seems to want me to have big party...

What are (were) you looking forward to most about your thirties?
I never did.  I always expected to die at the age of Rock'n'Roll death.  (28)  So I didn't make any plans...

And what are (were) you most worried about?
The pressure for me and the missus to get married is growing.  But otherwise, it's mostly a case of feeling that I didn't do enough twenty-something stuff in my twenties.

intro post
Ooh, I think I'm the oldest.. Hello ;)

Where do you live?
South East, UK

When do you / did you turn 30?
November 2002. I'm 33 and suddenly feel old now compared to everyone else so far!

Do you have any birthday celebration plans (or did you)?
No, I think I stayed home, hmm..

What are (were) you looking forward to most about your thirties?
I think I expected to feel more at ease with myself, life, appearance and personality etc, if not confident in myself then at least leave behind the insecirties of youth.. Perhaps not then.

And what are (were) you most worried about?
There is a feeling as you approach 30 that you *should* be settled, know where you're going and be vaguely pointed in the right direction at least. I'm not, and don't, and that is what worried me most and little has changed except maybe worrying about it slightly less often ;)

Hello!

Where do you live? Sunny south coast of England

When do you / did you turn 30? 31st October 2006 - eek!

Do you have any birthday celebration plans (or did you)? Not really. I think I'd like to be abroad, or in the company of a special someone, or maybe just with friends... Haven't really thought about it but now think maybe I should??!

What are (were) you looking forward to most about your thirties? Hmm I thought I'd be a grown-up by 30 - good salary, property, husband, kids(!). But the 20s haven't been particuarly tiptop so I hope the 30s will be more cop. Friends tell me that you settle into your own skin in your 30s, that would be nice.

And what are (were) you most worried about? God... I guess that the above doesn't happen and you just get wrinkles instead? Don't think I'm really worried, feeling more optimistic than that!

When do you / did you turn 30? 21st of June 2006

Do you have any birthday celebration plans (or did you)?Nope, don't celebrate my birthday. Am not starting now. Everyone is free to get me gifts though.

What are (were) you looking forward to most about your thirties? Stability (yeah, like that's going to magically happen)

And what are (were) you most worried about? Still being jobless and basically living a student life at thirty (I've got about a month to change all that!!)

Squeeee
I'm slightly sad that The Mosquito, designed to repel delinquents, will no longer work on me next month.

Where do you live? In a studio flat that featured on The Apprentice where they all said it would be hell to live. I love it.

When do you / did you turn 30? 15th June 2006

Do you have any birthday celebration plans (or did you)? I think I'm going to be renting a room in a bar near my home for some kind of partee, where I'll cry if no-one comes along.

What are (were) you looking forward to most about your thirties? I suppose the end of my twenties - taking more risks professionally, travelling a bit more, maybe getting a non-geographic job so I can pootle all over the place, having a boyfriend who isn't a total fuckup.

And what are (were) you most worried about? I think there's this strange, underlying sense that I've not managed to achieve all the things I should have done, that everyone else my age must be married, have kids, live in suburbia in a mansion and earn six figure salaries and that somehow I should want that too.

When do you / did you turn 30? 17th august 2006

Do you have any birthday celebration plans (or did you)? i will doubtless spend the evening of my birthday in the pub; the following day is a friend's 30th and he plans to visit edinburgh for beer and strippers :-P

What are (were) you looking forward to most about your thirties? i haven't really thought about it - guess i'd like it to be a fresh start of sorts for my personal life, after my 20s were full of parent/grandparents dying, parent living down to expectations, unemployment, being skint, girl-stress, depression and mojo-loss.

And what are (were) you most worried about? that i'll remain single another 10 years, that i'll lose touch with people and gradually turn into my dad :-(

Hi, I followed Loz in here.

Where do you live? Sacramento, California, USA.

When do you / did you turn 30? July 20, 2006.

Do you have any birthday celebration plans (or did you)? I don't really do parties either, although I'm sure my parents will give me presents and cake.

What are (were) you looking forward to most about your thirties? I don't think that I'm actually particularly looking forward to my 30s at all, but what I would look forward to about my 30s if only I felt any particular actual optimism about it really happening is the idea of having a permanent relationship for a change instead of being incessantly single.

And what are (were) you most worried about? The incessantly single thing.

Also, my mother has always claimed that almost everybody who's about to turn 30 decides to change their life in some major way (marriage, divorce, having a child, quitting a job, etc.) around the age of 30, because turning 30 prompts them to reflect mroe than usual on what they do and don't like about their life. My mother's major decision just before turning 30 was to have me. Mine, as far as I can see so far, seems to consist only of getting a kitten. But kittens are more fun than babies, anyway.

Hey folks.

I'm Loz.

Where do you live? North London, UK

When do you / did you turn 30? 31st August 2006.

Do you have any birthday celebration plans (or did you)? I don't really do parties, but I might have a picnic :-)

What are (were) you looking forward to most about your thirties? Well, as my twenties (from the age of about 23) were better than my teens I'm hoping mucho joycore will be kicking in in about three years time.

And what are (were) you most worried about? I'll probably have my mid-life crisis to get through first. Mind you, I've been doing the mlc since my teenage years, so I'm an old hand at this now.
